when: from midnight to seven in the morning.

• Mari in a cafeteria, a student is reading a book;
• Takahashi, a jazz musician, with his group is trying in a basement;
• Kaoru, a former wrestling champion that manages the Alphaville, a love hotel;
• the two assistants Kaoru;
• a Chinese prostitute beaten by a client;
• a computer expert, who works at night alone in his office;
• Eri, her older sister, Mari, a beautiful, fall into a deep sleep from which it is not going to wake up.

What: dream, night time, sign, city, solitude and solidarity, danger, squalor, tenderness, violence, hope, Japan.
It 's a short story, says in a moment, not comparable to other jobs or wealth for Murakami plot. A series of photographs of an almost endless night, suspended, as sometimes happens, a lot of life drawn between any two days.
